Meet Glenn

A career built at the intersection of law and healthcare

Glenn Karr began his practice of law in 1974 as an attorney for Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus. In 1979, he became Vice President of Legal Affairs for the fifth-largest Blue Shield plan in the country, a role he held for a decade. During this period, he also taught a law school course in Insurance Regulation.

In 1995, Glenn began working with mental health therapists and went on to serve as General Counsel of the Ohio Psychological Association (OPA) from approximately 1997 to 2003. He continued teaching psychologists ethics courses and expanded his practice to include counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists.

His ethics course is frequently sponsored by OPA as well as the National Association of Social Workers’ Ohio Chapter (NASW-OH), for whom he has authored a legal column in their membership periodical. Glenn has received statewide awards from both OPA and NASW-OH for his work on behalf of mental health therapists.

Since opening his solo practice in 1996, Glenn has maintained a statewide practice, often working with clients via phone, email, and fax. He also serves as General Counsel for a large nonprofit organization in Ohio and has held volunteer leadership roles with the Columbus Speech and Hearing Center, the Epilepsy Association of Central Ohio, Directions for Youth and Families, and Montana de Luz, an orphanage in Honduras.

Because he regularly teaches ethics courses, Glenn frequently has immediate answers to client questions without extensive research — a benefit that translates to efficiency and lower costs. When HIPAA Protected Health Information is involved, he provides a HIPAA-Compliant Business Associate Agreement.
